Sears has changed of manufacturer for there Front Loading Washers & Dryers they are now built by Samsung. This is a second “BAD” Hit for Whirlpool after having record negative sales and loosing this long time association with Sears. Guess that this second quarter will be not very positive for this big Brand. What Next!!!! For 2009

sears is using samsung.. that is why lowes is going to become the large whirlpool laundry king.. also why they tossed F/P out the door on the seat of their pants.
Sears Outlets now have F/P laundry and DCS units on Display.. Sears will also have F/P laundry under the ELBA brand later this year.
Ever since the Eddie Lampert orchestrated the "merger" of SEARS & K-Mart, the profile of SEARS has steadily gone downhill !!! Their Great Indoors was a bigger bust than EXPO … and now SEARS is turning their back on a long-time manufacturer who gave them the good rep they enjoyed with the vast majority of our parent’s generation !!! Stupid is as stupid does !!!

samsung as a supplier of kenmore front loaders, not REPLACING whirlpool.

No one at a high level would come on this site to announce a product displacement the size of the Kenmore product sales number. My guess is it is a rumor and the fact that you say they are adding a line of Samsung is probably more of an accurate assessment as to the real story. It may eventually lead to a change but not at this time and not so abruptly without some sort of dual trial period. Too much risk. My opinion only.
Sears is not turning their back on Whirlpool. As a matter of fact, Whirlpool will continue to manufacture dishwashers, top-load laundry, fridges and certain cooking for Kenmore. Sears will continue to sell Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, Kitchen-Aid, and Inglis appliances. In Canada, it is not certain yet that any changes will be coming for Whirlpool in terms of front-load Kenmore laundry. Additionally, contrary to reports above, it is not Samsung building Kenmore laundry next year in the United States. Samsung is building SOME laundry this year in both the US and Canada to supplement the Kenmore line, because Sears did not want to wait another year for direct drive, and LG was unable to refit the necessary stock to accomodate. Samsung was able to do it. At this time, it is not a replacement for Whirlpool-built front load; and the "Kenmore" front loaders built by Samsung will bear a very strong resemblance to Samsung front loaders.
I am certain your superiors are happy with your comments. No one person would know this unless they are negotiating and then with a proprietary ,non disclosure agreement wow.Hey bestlurker…. I don’t know who you are but it’s refreshing to see what appears to be fact-based information posted on this site instead of wild speculation and unconfirmed rumors. You are obviously either well placed and well informed and not afraid to share facts to rebut rumors, or you are really good at making stuff up that sounds like it comes straight from the boardroom. If it is the former, I’m pleased to see that Mr. Lambert has not gotten rid of all of the bright and articulate executives on the payroll. Either way, please keep contributing to the site, I like your style.
Cohiba..I would think if that was you or I or someone we knew we would have the professional courtesy to let this be announced through standard outlets. This type of info is what keeps some high level people away and wary of this good site. I guess I grew up in a different world. I do not see the good that comes of this leaking if I may.Opinions are one thing , announced strategic plans are another. I know several people who will be pretty peaved over this if true.
