Whirlpoolmaytag Dumps UMRP

We have received a report that Whirlpool and Maytag will no longer be employing a UMRP program. What drive'th mongo-brand to make this move away from the dark-side? Could be short term sales on the dealer's back? Feel free to chuck a factoid or opinion this way so that we can all play.
UPDATE: Apr 25: Maytag to end UMRP May 11. Whirlpool to end UMRP May 12.
Therefore, it seems to make sense to us, that consumers withhold their purchases until May 13.
