Whirlpool Yanks Your Hose

In a move to reduce costs, but more importantly reduce legal liability, Whirlpool will no longer be supplying connection hoses with their washers. We have been told that this was the brilliant idea of the Whirlpool legal department, which recently lost its patent infringement case against LG. The date of effectivity is November 27. In the memo to dealers, Whirlpool stressed the new profit opportunities:
The change also provides you with a new source of revenue generation. In addition to selling standard inlet hoses with purchases, your associates will have the opportunity to talk to consumers about inlet hose upgrades and educate them about the importance of periodically changing washer inlet hoses to reduce the risk of fusing and bursting.
UPDATE: October 26: We have one unconfirmed tip, that Whirlpool is buckling under the pressure, that though they yanked your chain, they have decided not to yank your hose. Has anyone out there heard the same?
