Whirlpool Picks Ohio

Whirlpool chooses to reopen WC Woods Ottawa, Ohio factory on January 18. Whirlpool purchased the assets of WC Woods from bankruptcy. Whirpool has sent notice to all ex-employees of the plant to give notice that some may be coming back to work. No word yet if Whirlpool will reopen the Guelph, Ontario plant. Whirlpool will complete a "study" by spring 2010 to consider if the factory will remain in use beyond 2010.
If we all step back and take a breath at the shocking similarity to what ApplianceAdvisor.com predicted a few short weeks ago. We wish the best of luck to the Ohio workers, but recommend that they bone up on their corn harvesting skills or Spanish or both for 2011 and beyond.
