Whirlpool Makes Purchase at Estate Sale
In a fit of predictability, Whirlpool bid for and won the bulk of WC Woods assets including raw materials, finished goods, IP, equipment and property for $4.5 million Canadian. Whirlpool has not yet announced if it will reopen either the Ohio or Canadian plants.
Our take on the coming games: Whirlpool will play the state of Ohio and the Feds against the Province of Ontario and the Canadian government to see which will offer the best package of tax rebates, supports, retraining grants, investment subsidies and other cash equivalents. They will further negotiate with unions to reduce wages. The losing factory will be plowed into the ground. The winner will get it all. In 3 years, everything will be boxed up and moved to Mexico.
And they lived happily ever after.

Woods Sale
Advisor - I agree wholeheartedly with your vision. This website is by far the best I have come across to track such matters as these. Kudos!
Yup ... Yup ... Yup !!!
As anyone who knows me recalls, I am ardently anti-union, exactly for the reason Advisor notes ... all manufacturing ends up out of the country because of cost considerations ...
It occurs to me that an advanced thinking southern right-to-work state would do well to woo the Whirlpool/Woods manufacturing interests ... maybe Ohio could re-think their way of doing business ...
Anyone listening ???
