UPDATED: A Lack of Dacorum

Dacor has signed with Sears Commercial to sell Dacor products to Sears' Builder customers.
Is this the first indication that Dacor will be sold through Sears stores?  It is said in the field that Dacor has been troubled since distribution was canceled, though Dacor denies it.

The fact is for Dacor as it is for any company that they do what they must to survive.  Dacor's manufacturing agreement with Electrolux proves that.

Dacor Press Release

Response to the above from Keshia Holland of Domus Inc, Dacor's PR firm:
"As one of the posters mentioned, the relationship with Sears has nothing to do with distribution or sales, the company has wanted to penetrate the builder market for a while and Sears Commercial has solid relationships with key builders throughout the country. Dacor now has the support of a strong network of knowledgeable sales people who can offer their clients a premium product to enhance their building projects.  It’s a win-win for both parties."

Response from ApplianceAdvisor.com
Though Dacor has explored parts of the appliance business its direct competitors have not, there is no evidence supporting a deeper Sears tie up.  Just think about it.  There does not seem to be any way for a company of Dacor's product segment and size to formulate a Sears retail launch.  Dacor would need an iron-clad long-term contract, to make up for the loss of sales from independent dealers.  Sears would not sign such a contract because it doesn't have to.  In our opinion, it is impossible, therefore it isn't happening.

Sears

I would not look for a negative in Dacor going to Sears. I think it is an ok thing. Not that many large options left. 10 years ago they would not have thought to do this. Times change , so do strategies.Thank God they are not like Fisher Paykel.Good business. If they don't look out for themselves who else will ?

Dacor

It seems like I saw Dacor in the Sears booth at IBS in Vegas.  That makes sense now.

Response to Advisor

Oh great one. You are wrong. This has been a strategic plan since before you can remember. It will be good for both parties. Another first for a great company (Dacor).

Dacor

Dacor has wanted to enter the builder market for years. It has nothing to do with their distribution situation or the dealer direct market.GE I think had a vice like grip on this. Hooray for Steve Lippman and Dacor. This is a good move for the medium sized companies to beat down GE's hold. Good for you Steve !! You sandbagger.
