UPDATE: Bosch-Siemens Half the Company it Once Was

Rumor has it, circumstantially confirmed (and still a rumor) by ApplianceAdvisor.com, that the Siemens brand will be terminated in North America effective January 1, 2009.
Siemens appliances were originally introduced to the US in 2003 as a Best-Buy store brand only to be ejected from the store in 2006. No idea why.
In October 2007 we reported that Siemens Germany was committed to divesting its ownership in BSH.
Like Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Plymouth, is the Siemens nameplate really necessary?

UPDATE December 11, 2008
Well placed sources confirm that the Siemens brand is being removed from the BSH showroom in Arizona, the first of the year, as BSH focuses on increasing Thermador sales. Does the removal of the brand from the corporate showroom confirm the termination of the brand? The removal supports the rumor but does not prove the rumor.
Until concrete confirmation is found we are moving this story back into the "unconfirmed rumor" department.
