The iconic president of Elica Spa of Fabriano Italy, the self-professed largest rangehood maker in the world, ran for and won a seat in the Italian senate in Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia party, it was reported today. The president's departure for politics dovetails with Elica's plan to have an IPO this year, and the overall economic malaise in the entire Italian appliance industry.
