Rant Heard by Hundreds of Thousands
Still ranting against Energy Star as it is now configured, ApplianceAdvisor.com editor Alex Cheimets found himself interviewed at Boston's largest appliance dealer, Yale Electric.

What may have been lost in translation is our specific complaint against Energy Star dividing refrigerator ratings by Top Mount, Bottom Mount, and Side by Side.
In the example discussed in the interview, if you buy the MOST efficient Side by Side refrigerator, with a big blue Energy Star label, the best unit available, you will find that it is LESS efficient than the LEAST efficient Top Mount of the same volume.
A Top-Mount this inefficient would not only NOT be Energy Star rated, it could not be legally manufactured or sold in the United States.
Sure this is confusing, and it's a huge problem.
Is it really such a big deal to have regulation that actually makes a lick 'o sense. If we all aren't dufusus why is it that we put up with this?
