Recall
Normally we would ignore this kind of news which is not directly related to appliances, but who knows what you might need to know.
Blair LLC of Warren, PA is re-announcing its recall of 162,000, 100% cotton Chenille Robes made in Pakistan. Seems that owners have a tendency of cooking while wearing the robes, and the robes have a tendency of catching on fire incinerating the occupant. If the owners had a tendency of, say, speaking in tongues or the robes were fabricated from asbestos, there wouldn't be a story......but that was not to be.
There have been 6 deaths so far reported.
The take away. People are endlessly creative in the ways they choose to kill themselves, but do we defeat the intent of the Care and Use Manual's safety warnings when we try to list every possible disaster which might befall a user through 6 pages of itemized warnings? Who reads them? Could they all be replaced with a single line roughly translated as: "DON'T BE AN IDIOT".
See the recall
A few of the actual warnings from our range manual:
-Do not store flammable materials in, on or near the oven.
-Never move a pan of hot oil, especially a deep fat fryer. Wait until it is cool.
-Hold the handle of the pan to prevent movement of the utensil when stirring or turning food.
We expected to find:
-Do not ladle hot soup over one's shoulder>
-Do not sit bare bottomed on the stove when griddling.
-Never use the back burners for home grooming activities such as burning off chest hair in advance of body building competitions.
Let's hold hands, close our eyes and imagine a future when we can get by with:
-DON'T BE AN IDIOT.

This Ain't Hot Coffee

New York Injury News
Not Illegal to be an Ignoramus !!!
Just goes to show you, even an ignoramus is not responsible for their imbecillic actions !!!
Strange
Yes , most of this is crazy. We can blame the attorneys who sue for this problem. They only address their specific issue and make a mountain out of a mole hill. Such as a bump in the road. Why is it there ? what have you done to fix it , avoid it ? or warn the public to avoid it ? By the end of the trial they will have the jury thinking the engineer is criminal. Talk about needed reform.
