The Boston Red Sox erased 86 years of pain too specific, too horrific to describe to those who have not lived and died with it. The tool of our torture was not "loss", though loss was always the result. No, this team traded on something far more addictive and exquisitely destructive; "Hope". "Hope" is our curse'd gift, passed from our grandparents to our parents to us, a contagion in an empty box, wrapped with a bow, left out to infect the next generation, the very children whom we have sworn to protect, and claim to love. "Hope", never consummated by victory, never rewarded by glory, always within reach, but never grasped, until this very day under an eclipsed moon in a clear sky. Major Appliance owners in Boston, in New England and around the world screamed, cried and rejoiced......if nothing else it was a relief to be out from under all of that baggage. Trust me.
