Nortek Owns La Cornue .... but why?

Guess what we just found out?  La Cornue, the French maker of exotic gas ranges is a member of the Nortek Group of Providence RI?  Nortek also owns Broan and Nutone, makers of bathroom fans and range hoods.  Someone explain how that makes sense.
