No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

Whirlpool continues to take its lumps for buying Maytag.  250,000 "Maytag" brand front loading washers manufactured by Samsung between April 2005 and August 2006 have been recalled for reasons strikingly similar to the Maytag's 2.3 million dishwasher recall from January 2007 (see Holy Flaming Dishwashers.... Batman Jan 2007).  
Water was leaking into the circuitry and causing a fire hazard.  The recall also effects 20,000 "Samsung" brand units of the same design.  
There have been 6 reported fires but no reported injuries.  Click for details
