Night of the Living Dead: Maytag Edition

Like the flesh eating Zombie that it is, Maytag continues to reach from the grave, tearing and ripping at the balance sheets of the living. Unfortunately for Whirlpool, Maytag's owner, the victim is always Whirlpool.
1.6 million Maytag manufactured Combo Fridge / BBQs are being recalled, because the entire spontaneous BBQ feature was not originally specified or included in the sales literature. Consumers unfortunately located their Combo's in their kitchen where the spontaneous BBQ feature resulted in 41 fires, and 16 reports of property damage including extensive kitchen damage.
The units are branded Maytag, Jennair, Amana, Admiral, Magic Chef, and Crosley and were produced between 2001 and 2004.

Hey, we all could have told Whirlpool that it was a mistake to buy Maytag. Last week the market capitalization of all of Whirlpool was just over $1Billion at one point or less than half of what they paid for Maytag a few years ago. Not counting the new costs associated with another Maytag recall, of course.
