Daewoo Electronics, which as far as we can tell, has been in Korean bankruptcy for 11 years, (Yup! Since 1999) is close to being acquired. (It has been close to acquisition 4 times.....so don't hyperventilate).
Creditors listed five viable buyout candidates. They include Electrolux, Ripplewood (the US private equity arm which last failed to buy Maytag), a S. Korean cooking company, a Mexican company, a Middle Eastern company and a rabbi.
Actually we threw the rabbi in there.
Press reports indicate that final bidding for Daewoo will take place March 2010.

... or did you mistake the word Daewoo for the guy in the beer ad who cannot return the "I love You" to his girlfriend ???
I know it's not topical, but it struck me as funny as the Rabbi ... and it's late !!!
