Lazy August Rumor Mill

Recent rumors heard, but have not been able to confirm, listed here simply for your amusement:

• Indesit Proposal:  Europe's 3rd largest appliance manufacturer, Indesit (busily discussed below), has agreed to be acquired by Whirlpool.  We have emailed but have not received comment from Indesit's CEO.
  • UPDATE August 4:  Response from Indesit Director of Communications:  
    "We didn't have and we don't have any conversation with Whirlpool or any other appliances company re. a possible purchase from their part. For my understanding, Indesit Company is not for sale."
• Electrolux has agreed to purchase Spanish rangehood maker CATA.
  • We have reached CATA, but no one knew what the hell we were talking about.
