LAYOFFS: Sub-Zero / Wolf Reduces Salaried Positions

The Wisconsin State Journal reported today that Sub Zero/ Wolf will eliminate 36 salaried "management" and "administrative" positions in its Wisconsin and Arizona facilities.

WSJM Reporting Rumors the past few days about additional white-collar cutbacks at Whirlpool Corporation have turned into reality. A Whirlpool spokesperson has confirmed what a newstipper told WSJM News earlier on Thursday -- 15 employees in Southwest Michigan have been terminated in continuing economic-driven cutbacks. That's 15 people in the Benton Harbor-Saint Joseph area. A source referred to them as "directors" in their departments...however Whirlpool would not confirm what positions were affected. Additionally, a source inside the company told WSJM earlier today that up to 60 Whirlpool employees have been offered a choice of reassignment at reduced compensation or authority -- or termination. The source said the employees have until April 15th to decide. However, Whirlpool would not confirm nor comment on those potential additional cuts. A Whirlpool spokesperson also said that there are no job cuts planned in other areas where Whirlpool operates around the world.
Difficult Times
I am sorry to see more American jobs cut. It hurts those people very much. I hope that the light at the end of the tunnell is not a freight train but some truly accurate improvements in consumer spending. Once the wall streeters and bankers realize they have to now share the wealth maybe things will get better and we will have some steady fundamental growth.This was not caused by the people being affected.
