K-Biz 2011 - Where Have All the Appliances Gone ???

The opening line of this year's Kitchen & Bath Show sez: "Test drive some of the most inventive kitchen and bath products at KBIS 2011." Hence my title question ...
We are a mere 7-8 weeks away, when, in the past we would all be making sure airline, hotel, and conference reservations were made and confirmed. We'd be wondering what innovations we'd see that we'd only heard of thus far ... and ... we'd be plotting our explorations of the show floor to make the best use of our time ... and ... we'd be excited !!!
This year, after years of suggesting that K-Biz go to Vegas because it was the quintessential trade show locale ... We're not going !!!
We're not going because NO ONE ELSE IS !!!
Oh, as usual, there are no absolutes ... Dacor is going ... Summit will be there ... as will Five Star ... but after an exhaustive search of all 551 people who say they are, that's it !!!
So, instead of postulating as to why, because it's so much of a rehashing of predictions many of us made in years gone by ... How about we pose the title question ...
Where Have All the Appliances Gone ???
... and then ask ... What will it take to bring them back ???

Whirlpool's Virtual Show
Whirlpool just held a virtual show online for 6 hours (more or less). I missed the opportunity to visit when live Whirlpool folks were talking about their newest lint catch or dishwasher scum skimmer, but I moused around and clicked on things.
It's a bit flat.
Online virtual shows are not a very good replacement for KBIS but they are cheap to put on.
