Independent Now Dependent

The assets of Independent Inc. have been sold to Florida based Dynamic Distributors which had until 2009, distributed the Vent-a-Hood brand. Manufacturing will stay in Reno, while ordering and customer service will shift to Florida. The new entity will be called Luxury Kitchen Hood LLC, with "Independent" remaining as the name of the brand. Sources tell us that Steve Williams, president of Independent will remain with the company in an advisory role.
Independent is one of the foremost manufacturers of custom designed luxury rangehoods in the United States. We understand that they ran into a credit squeeze with their expansion to better (and higher and dryer) facilities simultaneous with the economic slowdown, the takeover of their bank by federal authorities and the resulting cancelation of their line of credit. Evidently it is difficult to run a business without liquidity.
David Zisman of Dynamic Distributors said that the full focus, the only focus now is getting components, restarting production, filling back orders, and rebuilding relationships and trust that were damaged during the credit crunch.

Independent, Inc.'s biggest problem was the inability to communicate good reliable information with their partners. No return telephone calls. Missed promised ship dates. Non payment of pre-approved warranty claims. Denial of legitament warranty claims. Inaccurate installation instructions. Shipping $15-K custom hoods in a box that wouldn't even qualify to have Kleenex shipped in it. And are just a few things that I can quickly recall. It is a shame the company representatives could not have been a little more honest with their partners. I am sure we all would have been a whole lot more understanding. It now appears that someone out in Reno should have spent less time running a vacuum about the office and more time managing the business. Good luck to David Zisman. This should be an interesting combination 2 companies with the same level of customer service. Dynamic was known for the worst so do 2 wrongs make a right?

Problem is that bad news trickles down faster and more furiously than the profits do !!!
