Great Indoors not doing so great

It looks like curtains for the poorly named Great Indoors. They have announced the closing of two locations in California, Burbank and Irvine. The rest will follow. Maybe, just maybe, it is true, as we all hope, that the Big Box stores cannot sell high end appliances. RIP, Expo and now TGI. Or should I say, Good Riddance?

Oh, I'd Agree ...

... wholeheartedly, ACG !!!   I always thought that TGI was a reaction to EXPO and that neither ever made the commitment to staff their locations with people who had any relative prowess ...

The interesting side-effect of having an EXPO in our area was viewed on as positive by the local Independents, who felt they benefitted by customer frustration @ EXPO by having those folks driven (sometimes directly) into their showrooms !!!

According to TGI's web site, they still have some other stores that still need to follow suit in other states ... I guess it's just a matter of time !!!

TGI being a pain in my area.

The only thing TGI does best is to bribe the customer with price reductions on premium items.  Customers like to hold the " I'll just go to TGI, they are going to give me 15% off."  All this after you spend three months with them going over features, how the items are designed to function and proper installation.   TGI can't go away quick enough for me.  When the store in my area closes the employees can go to HHGregg. 700 new openings there.

Yes, but ...

... I recall a present or former employee of HHGregg speaking out vehemently against his "employee experience" with them ... I also wrote an article about my visit to their showroom ...

As for TGI, they follow the SEARS rebate scheme ... the "rebate" is not a true "rebate" like with major manufacturers, but a "discount" on a future purchase at SEARS ... and furthermore, it usually has an expiration date after which the customer loses it's value all together !!!

I wonder how long they'll be

I wonder how long they'll be around.Big D

Frankly ...

... I've been surprised that they didn't pack up the bus a while ago !!!   There has to be some unspoken reasoning there, but I agree that it is only a matter of time ...
