"Generations" published by industry veteran Dick Tipton
Richard Tipton, retired VP of Standards of Excellence and VP of Sales and Marketing from Thermador, fullfilled a lifelong dream of writing the Great American Novel. A Great Amercan Novel, we might add, which promises everything but major appliances. Wise choice.
A young man’s coming of age forms the core of Generations, an insightful novel based on the author’s lifelong travels.
When Danny Parker’s parents are killed in an airplane crash, he goes to live with his only relative, a grandfather he hasn’t seen since he was a toddler. Danny has to move away from his childhood home and friends to join his grandfather in Northern California, where he must start life all over again. During summer vacations, Danny travels with his grandfather to exotic locales, and the two create a lifelong bond. Then Danny meets the girl of his dreams. Generations is the story of a teenage boy’s transition to manhood as he’s mentored into maturity by a loving grandfather and a girlfriend who teaches him about love and jealousy.
“My travel experiences were a key element in the development of this story,” says author Richard Tipton. “My personal journals from Africa, Australia, Alaska, and France became the outline for much of the story.”
Richard Tipton has been charged by an elephant while on safari in Africa, stalked by a shark while scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef, and came face-to-face with a grizzly bear while hiking in Alaska. Tipton lives in El Dorado County in Northern California.
