GE EasyBake Dishwasher

GE is recalling 2.5 million dishwashers (roughly 5500 tractor trailers) manufactured between 1997 and 2001 because of rinse aid leaking into the door and causing wire corrosion and overheating resulting in 191 complaints of which 56 were of property damage and 12 were of the fire trucks and guys with axes variety.  GE spokesperson Kim Freeman, told the Louisville Courier-Journal "In 2001, we redesigned the door and alleviated the problem, even though we didn't know we had a problem."
Though all effected dishwashers were manufactured in Louisville, the problems have suspicious parallel to a Whirlpool washer recall in March 2007 (see No Good Deed Goes Unpunished), and a Maytag dishwasher recall in January 2007 (see Holy Flaming Dishwashers.... Batman)
