Frigidaire Price Increase.....and She's a Big One

Frigidaire announced October 20, that a price increase is on the way for all Frigidaire, Tappan and Westinghouse brand appliances.
Effective November 1, 2008 all "top mounted refrigerators and freezer products" will have a price increase of 10% on average.
Effective January 2, 2009 everything else will go up 10% on average.
The kicker?  Any order placed before January 2 but not shipped before January 2 will be priced at the NEW higher pricing.

Huh?
This is an interesting pricing strategy option we had not before considered.  A dealer placing a factory order for a consumer on December 15 would not know when placing the order if 10% of his butt flesh is going to get torn off in the transaction.  Wouldn't the effect be a retail price rise of 10% weeks earlier than the wholesale price rise?

Read on Advsor.....it's all on the release:
"To help ensure that all orders are shipped by that date, we suggest that your orders are placed before Monday December 1st"

So there it is; retail price will increase 10% effective December 2, 2008.
