Fisher Paykel Files Patent Suit Against LG

On April 8, New Zealand based Fisher and Paykel filed suit against South Korea based LG Electronics. The suit claims that LG is infringing on F&P's US patent for a computer controlled motor technology for washers. F&P calls the technology "SmartDrive".

How could we be surprised that it would come to this when both companies claimed to be Australia's #1 appliance brand in 2001?
