Energy Star: Editorial Comment #1

NEWS ITEM:
The MOST efficient Energy Star Certified Side by Side refrigerator of a given volume is LESS efficient than the LEAST efficient Top Mount of the same volume.
In other words, if Side by Side refrigerators were required to meet the DOE efficiency regulations for Top Mount fridges, Side by Sides would not be allowed to be manufactured or sold in the United States.

This same comment really was spoken when we submitted the electric range with a gas broiler in it back in the 90's. A very funny strip.
