Closed Circuit: UPDATE

Circuit City finally succumbed to a boycott called by ApplianceAdvisor.com on April 2007.  Circuit City Boycott.  That is the raw power of ApplianceAdvisor.com.

We called that boycott for the shabby way they treated their most skilled employees.  Back in those golden days of 2007, it was easy to pick out a single company for special treatment.  Just imagine, though, if we were to start naming names today?  What a list we would have.  It would be far easier to list the brands which actually lived up to their claims of family.  Brands which resort first to workforce-wide wage cuts and shortened work weeks instead of first focusing all of a company's pain and frustration on a few hapless colleagues and their families.

Let's see......hmmm, there's Fedex.  They're part of our beloved industry since they occassionally make urgent shipments of appliance prototypes to the Kitchen and Bath Show.  After Fedex, the list kind of tapers off.  That was easy.

UPDATE January 26:  A day late and a dollar short, Circuit City was planning to get back into appliances and to start paying commission to its sales people.  Seems CC was never able to make up the revenue lost when they dumped appliances.  They replaced products that people wanted to see  before buying, with commodities such as DVD that could be more easily acquired over the internet.
