Dealerscope (www.dealerscope.com) reports that BSH Pres. & CEO Franz J. Bosshard is "considering" as a cost saving measure, closing Thermador's Vernon (Los Angeles) factory and moving the remaining production east to BSH's New Bern, NC facility. Since acquiring Thermador in 1998, BSH has shifted ventilation and cooktops out of Vernon leaving only ovens and 30" ranges.
Having missed any opportunity to strike when it might have made a difference, me thinks that the Vernon workers overpaid on their union dues.
BSH's nervous white collar staff work in high rent Huntington Beach. We wonder how long until the coast is clear.....west coast that is?
