Appliance Canada Purchased

One of Canada's largest appliance dealers, Appliance Canada Ltd, is being purchased by Leon's Furniture Ltd.
Leon's release says: "This purchase will give us a significant entry into a new market, namely the wholesale distribution of major home appliances to builders and apartment landlords. We also plan to maintain Appliance Canada's retail selling of higher end appliances to the public and retain the services of its management and employees."

UPDATE Aug 16:  Leon's specializes in "sub-prime" furniture and appliance sales to folks financially pinched.  Therefore primarily selling mass market brands.  Appliance Canada specializes in builder sales of appliances (with some retail), and has access to brands at all price points.
UPDATE Jan 2, 2008:  Leon's completes purchase of Appliance Canada
