Air to Air Missiles

Vent-a-Hood reports that it received correspondence from Broan-Nutone challenging VAH's fire safety claims for their Magic Lung blower.  The ApplianceAdvisor has not seen the correspondence so we cannot summarize the challenges.
Vent-a-Hood
has made a statement in response which we have included in its entirety.
We are awaiting comment from Broan-Nutone, and will include it here as soon as it is received.
UPDATE:  Jan 6:  Broan has chosen not to comment on this news item.
UPDATE:  Jan 13: At the Orlando show, Broan displayed a blower comparison test of a Broan 600CFM blower and a 600CFM "Blower X", (suspiciously similar to the Vent-a-hood's).
We were told that the test showed that Broan's 600CFM blower was superior to Blower X, and that seemed like a rational conclusion, but one cannot take THIS test to the bank because:

  • this was obviously not a laboratory environment with objective technicians.
  • Was the Broan blower actually a 600CFM blower or more, don't know
  • Was Blower X at its maximum speed and with standard power supply, don't know

If it was a Vent-a-hood blower, filters are not used, while the Broan blower's performance will drop significantly with the use of filters, but that wasn't the test situation.
This was a test for builders, it was PR, it was marketing, it was popcorn, and could even be accurate, but to really know one would need independent testing.

If you want to send us your tests on your competition, we'll publish.
